Columbia House - DVD club (http://www.columbiahouse.com/cl1/ch/suaf_redirect.jsp?fid=79091&cfid=3)
Use the link above to get to the DVD club. This is a pretty good deal for all of you who like buying DVD's. You get 4 for $0.49 each plus 1.99 shipping each. Get a 5th for 9.95 plus 1.99 shipping. You just have to buy 2 at regular price (19.99) plus 1.99 shipping each.
Total 65.82 divided by 7 = 9.40 each. When you use the link, make sure you type in code 47b to get this deal. Otherwise, it'll be more expensive. Hope you all get in on this!

I got a little confused on where to type in the code. It's sorta hidden. It's at the top right of the page. Type in the code 47b and the red letters should show a different deal...

Sounds like a good deal to me! Jump on it, and again, and again...
is there any way to figure out how much the dvd's cost without being a member yet?

you guys may want to do a little reading before you get into this. i have done this several times and i have to admit it is nice.
i have gotten dvd's for basically free. i buy the expensive ones with the enrollment selections, then buy cheap dvds to finish my obligation. i sometimes sell the expensive dvds on ebay to recoup some of the cash i spend on the others. usually would come to about $4-5 a piece.

Is there any way to see what their member prices are without being a member? Is it the full MSRP retail price for obligation titles?

i got in on this a while ago and it worked really well for me. they sent me a few cds when i forgot to reply (which is really easy, you can do it online in a few seconds) to the monthly selection. however, they never arrived. they took the charges off my account right away, but for some reason they still counted them as selections. so basically i got 5 dvds for $20. i guess you could just say they never arrived, if you could live w/yourself :)
as for making a profit, if you return them to electronic stored w/o the receipt you can usually get ~$25 each in store credit. not bad if you ask me.

does anyone know how long this promotion lasts? I was going to do this a while back when you could get the 5th dvd for $14.95 but now I see that I can get it for $5 less.

Hmmm...
Do they print something like "Published for Columbia" on the back of the dvd casing like they do on their cd's?
I tried selling some Columbia House cd's to the Wherehouse and the dude at the counter immediatley knew I was up to no good. 2 and a half hours later and two talks to managers in the backroom behind closed doors til I was out of there.

I have joined the club 3 times and have gotten A LOT of cheap DVDs. Note - I think the code 47B expired a while ago

When I was in this club about a year ago, the DVDs were brand new in shrinkwrap and NOT manufactured by Columbia House with any markings. You could return them to any store or give them as gifts.

Another way to get an extra FREE DVD (after you've become a member)is to get your spouse or a friend (with a different email) to join. You have to go through the columbiaplayhouse dvd site and send invites to join to your spouse or significant other or friends. When they join through the email you sent, you will be credited with a free DVD for each person (but I don't like to send referrals to friends 'cause they might hate me for it). Since I have fulfilled my obligation, I can cancel mine and my spouse can start another account. Then after we fulfill his obligation, he can send me the same invite email and he can get another free DVD once I join and so on and so on--depends on how many times you want to do this.

Well I took the plunge and did it. Used code "7CY" along with a made up 11 digit number starting with 501 as my PCN, and they just accepted me today. My order shows it was shipped yesterday. With this code you get "5 DVDs for $0.49 each and the 6th for $14.95" which is the best deal they offer -- averages $9.28 per DVD.
