Okay, so I'm really thinking about getting a car right now. I'm going to need one for work, but I'm hoping to get one that lasts for a while. I'm thinking really hard about a Kia. After mulling it over for a while,it seems the best choice.
I don't have a Kia dealership nearby, so I decided to ask you guys about the price range I'd be looking at. I don't think I'm going to be able to get a new one, but I'd prefer getting one that is still under warranty. Do you guys know how much I'm going to have to spend?

i think you should look at a hyundai. and i know, it seems lame, but the 2002s look really cool and they have a good warranty.
i think the accent is about 10K, and if you have a little money for a down payment and get a 60 month loan, the payments can't be more then $200 a month (prolly much less.)
and i sorta wish that i had considered a hyundai last year when i bought my new car, becasue i'm leasing a saturn, and i could have bought a hyundai for the same cost as my lease. then, after 3 years i could have just sold it for someting better as opposed to having nothing in the end and having to deal w/ worrying about going over on my mileage.
good luck :)

That's actually exactly what I was thinking of. The only thing is, I would like one that has a fairly extensive warranty left. The reason I was thinking Kia is because they have that standard 10 year/100,000 mile warranty.
Plus, I'm thinking of just about anything that is fairly cheap. I'd like payments as low as possible... around $200 wouldn't be out of the question though.

Have you thought about getting a used car and adding an aftermarket extended warranty? I had posted a thread on aftermarket warranties and I think DarkFury had posted experiences with an extended warranty.
Chick just bought an off-lease car from a bank for a really great price. It was around $3k off the Kelly price. Call your local banks and see how they handle their off-lease vehicles.

d00d - Kia's and Hundai's have a REPUTATIN"O FOR FALLING APART.
I know they have a 100k mi or 10 Yr warranty, but does it REALLY cover the stuff that falls apart? Ready teh warranty limitations VERY CAREFULLY.
on the other hand, i cant really recommend much of anything else in that price range...
get a UGO :heh::rolleyes:

d00d, have you looked at the new hyundais? i think that they rearranged their whole company, and now they aren't the pos they used to be. the sonata looks bad ass (but its also about 18K) and the other cars look pretty nice as well. and, i think that they seem like a good deal. considering the fact that every car i've ever owned cost me more then $2500 a year to maintain, even if you drive 20K miles a year a hyundai would still be a good value.

Thanks for your input guys.
1) I'm going to stay away from aftermarket warranties. Now I might get an extended warranty one a slightly used vehicle, but that will be through the dealer, more than likely.
2) IMO, just about every car made today is a POS- I have fairly weird standards though, so I won't elaborate. In my experience, however, if one knows how to maintain their vehicle and not abuse it, even a POS will last for a long time.
3) The car I'm looking to buy is one that is cheap enough that it will allow me to save money, and it should also make a good commuter.
It's not a vehicle that I plan on putting a lot of money into, and that is the reason for me wanting one with a good warranty. I want to get away with putting as little money into it as possible.

Yeah, I was just saying to someone the other day... that it looks like Hyundai is here to stay. Up until this year, I wasn't so sure... but it looks like they are actually moving up.
Dave.
