i'm watching my first now...and it's pretty good.
it's about some samarai that was once really crazy...killed a bunch of people and no longer wants to kill...but his reputation doesn't want to leave him as quickly as he'd like...
anyone see these?
Yes excellent series. One of my favs. Careful thought you might get addicted.

I'll read the manga first. It'll be easily accessible when I go home to Korea next week.

I thought back in retrospect...the TV series..only watch the 2nd season (28-60 or so approx). after watching the first 10 or so eps.
OVA and movie..hrm....don't watch the OVA until after you have read the manga. Then it'll make more sense. The movie you can watch it by itself.
For the manga....it's really all good. esp. book 10 and beyond to the end (end is at 28).
As for other stuff...I used to be a big fan (like 2 years ago or so), so I have a bunch of stuff (pencilboards, Soundtracks, etc)....moreso than most poeple. But, I was really only a fan of the manga.

The OVA kicked A$$. The series was kinda goofy... not bad, but not what I had expected after watching the OVA.

It reallly just means "Direct To Video!" Sorta like Pocahontas 2 or other stuff. Ususally very expensive to purchase.
they have "Movie" releases of stuff to, like in theatres.
I saw 千と千尋の神隠し "Spirited Away" in theatres, so it's considered a movie.
If it was only released to video, it would be considered an OVA.
OVAs are usually much higher quality animation and drawing than TV releases.
on a related note: Totoro (となりのととろ)is great on DVD, and you can get it in asia for as low as 10 bucks LEGIT. It includes english subtitles no matter what version you get.

AWWWW yeah....I know what you're saying man. I recently got Totoro, KiKi, Castle of Cagliostro(Lupin III), and Grave of the Fireflies all on DVD....all with English subtutles. I'm thinking of getting Princess Mononoke too even though I have the American release, cause I'm a hardcore fan like that. It all had a pretty good impact on my wallet cause I got them here in the states, but for the rest of the collection, I should be able to save some money cause I'll be in Asia starting next week. Can't wait for Laputa and Nausicaa!!! Should all be out by the end of this year I think.

Kenshin is my all-time favorite. It just holds a special place in my heart, don't know why. The OVA is just heart-wrenching, IMO. The series is lighter and more humorous. Unfortunately, I don't like how the series ended, but I thought it was pretty good throughout.
Hey, have you guys heard of Berserk? If so, I have a couple of questions... Are they going to make a second season? And, are they going to be released on DVD anytime soon?
