Question for the ladies...

Okay, just out of curiosity, what makes a guy(or woman) attractive to you? I could ask the same question of the guys (by the way, men can answer too), but I think I know what the number one answer would be!!! ;) Anyway, I'm sure that I'll get a more varied response from the women, so I decided to ask you directly.

BTW, this happens to be a topic a friend of mine and I are talking about at the moment.

Personality
Intelligence (and everything that comes with it)
Sense of humor

I actually agree with what you said, hapoo, but being more specific... If there is one thing that is most attractive physically, it is the face. For some reason, it is the face, eyes, smile, complexion that wins me over. Intelligence and personality are a given though.

sense of humor - has to laugh at my jokes and make me laugh

intelligence - i basically value it as a support system for a wicked clever sense of humor

attitude - has to be laidback. no control freaks! and confident in at least some things. has to be able to figure out his life on his own and not need someone else to blame for his mistakes.

honesty and communication. i am at a point in my life where if the guy was not able to talk about EVERYTHING honestly and openly, even if everything else was right, i'd kick his butt to the curb cuz i am too damned old for that scheisse.

looks.

not necessarily in that order. i would go for not-so-hot guys, but it takes me longer to develop a thing for them as i get to know them better. y'all can evaluate my (bottom-dredging low ;) ) standards for men since i have had a thing for both the guys in my peckerwood friends thread...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but so far there's been 14 posts from guys (15 now b/c of me) and 4 posts from girls in this thread. Are there any girls in this forum?

By the way, while looks is important (I like a nice face and some nice legs, preferably 2)I actually consider the most important trait in a GF is someone who I can kick it with. Looks is more like a minimum requirement for me. I won't be interested in a girl who is unattractive, but anyone who is moderately attractive by my standards (not quite sure how to quantify this)is not at a disadvantage over someone who is a complete knock-out. Heck at this stage... I'd settle for anyone who will go out with me. :P

but i can tell you want makes me want to puke. guys telling me they want to marry me. and yes, in the past 6 months i've had three guys tell me they would like to join in wedded bliss with me. i have no idea why i can't get a date on a friday night, but i can get hitched with a stranger tomorrow if i wanted. :confused:

but i guess you could say i'm attracted to a look or a guy who has a certain lifestyle. i'm always a sucker for those surfer/skater/snoboarder types, even tho they are usually arrogent asswipes, they are pretty to look at for a few days before i toss 'em!

If you're talking about initial attraction, I'd say looks. My jaw drops when I spot a guy who looks like he stepped out of a "Hot Guys" thread. :naughty: But 99.99% of the time, these pretty boys ruin the illusion and open their mouths. At that point, I run. Quickly. In the other direction.

If you're talking about someone more long-term, then I'd want someone who balances out my shortcomings, as I would his. Three things are vital: sense of humor, common sense, and an open mind. Everything else is icing on the cake.

Of course, most of my serious beaus were not exceptionally handsome - but all were very self-confident with plenty of personality. And very, very kind - don't need the "bad boys". I've been lucky (excluding my ex-husband, but that's a whole 'nuther story)

well i guess i'll end my posting hiatus and reply.

i like the following things in a guy:

1. taller than me (5'10")
2. doesn't bite his nails
3. has good fashion sense. i like lots of different "types" of guys like snowboarder types to wall street suit and tie types, but whatever you are, make sure you do it right. and get a good haircut. also, wear nice shoes.
4. i dont like really skinny or scrawny guys. not fat, but not skinny. i like someone who is into fitness and crap like that and who wants to stay in shape. i dont like tons of muscles, but definition is always nice.
5. i like guys who like to do fun stuff.
6. he MUST have a driver's license and a car. a guy without either or both of these really loses points with me. its a total turn off if i have to drive everywhere. i guess its ok if he doesn't have a car, but to not have a driver's license at a certain age (my age) is just a crime.
7. he must have a decent car.
8. must appreciate good food and drink and be willing to take me out to dinner and/or buy me presents for no particular reason.
9. intelligence

1. Must be confident (but not arrogant!) Who would want a wimpy guy.
2. Must be attractive. Not too scrawny or too fat, for instance. There must be at least some attraction to begin with or what's the point.
3. Must have a sense of humor.
4. Must love animals and music or there is no hope at all.
5. Must be an optomistic well rounded person who believes in God.
6. Someone with no kids from previous marriage (my mom went through that)
7. Be at least my height (5'10")
8. NO BUMS. I am not supporting any guy. He has to want to stay in San Diego too.
9. Musn't be cheap. I don't expect him to spend money on me constantly, but once in a while is nice and definitely on special occassions.
10. Must think I am the best thing that ever happened to him :)

Preferences

1. Someone who has not been married before and someone who has not been a whore monger (wish me luck I'll need it)
2. Someone with a college ed. and who is ambitious
3. Dark hair is quite lovely.
4. Being in shape is too.
5. Dresses well, but that can be remedied if need be
6. Someone who is easy going to counter act that part of my personality haha
7. Someone who has good taste and appreciates quality things (but again, this is something that can be worked on).
