I have DirectTV and I love it. Can't imagine going back to cable. Does anyone else have this and what do you think about it?

Even tho I work for DTV, I still have normal cable TV. I just like it better because I like flipping thru channels using the TV's internal tuner, instead of using the DTV reciever.

I have cable. I used to have satellite but when we moved (from one place in town to another), we got cable internet so we switched to cable tv, too. Without cable or satellite here, you get NBC (good most of the time) and ABC (SOMETIMES good, most of the time ok) and occasionally PBS will come in really well. Other than that, we got nothing. Sucked. lol

Anyway, how much does your satellite coverage cost you? I'm paying around $80/month for basic & expanded basic cable, cable internet & rental of the cable modem (don't ask. lol we plan to buy, but...). I'd be interested in looking into satellite if I could find a great deal that works out here in the boonies.

Digital Cable all the way. It can beat Satellite in almost every category i can think of, except for HDTV signals which doesn't really matter since i dont have an HDTV.

ya cox here too, love it for most part, bill is too high and right now cox@home is transitioning over to cox.net high speed internet (r). :) so one minute i get incredibly high speeds like 500 to 700 k a sec downloads to incredibly slow speeds like 60 to 100 k, soon it will be basically constant 500 to 700 so im happy. ive realized that in all my posts i have no sentence structure whatsoever lol

I am with the general masses in having only basic cable... considering I don't watch much tv, it works for me...

Heh. I've got both.

DirectTV for the big tv in the living room. Better picture than cable, and more channels for the money.

But since I can't get DSL, we've got a cable modem. And to go with it, basic cable hooked up to one tv in the bedroom. Only the cable company apparently isn't too bright, apparently. We've got every channel possible except the movie channels, even though we're only paying for basic.

All that, and I hardly watch any tv...

in my parents area they made everyone switch to digital cable and no longer offer regular cable. it's the same price and no installation fees. plus they gave 2 digital cable boxes for the price of one and 2 months free. it was a great deal. now when i go home we have hundreds of channels.

I've seen digital cable in three homes and in none of them was the picture better than satellite. We went to Dish Network more than two years ago and it can't be beat. We get some extreme weather in the North East and in the time we've had the Dish, I think we've lost the signal two maybe three times. I do, though, use Cablevision for their Optimum Online. Blows the doors off my old DSL.

We have a Toshiba 43AX60. The sad thing is though, we have rabbit ears TAPED to the top of it because my dad is too cheap to get DTV or to get a decent antenna. The rabbit ears came from a TV he had before I was born. :|

do you say this because af rules in your building or because you dont have a clear view of the sattlite from your unit? legally you have every right to install a satellite dish outside of your unit (there are a few exceptions, like if your dish blocks another tennants window). and if you cant legally mount a dish outside of the building, you can possible install one inside your unit. satellite signals can pass through some types of glass as long as the dish can get a clear line to the satellite.

we just got cable in my neighborhood last summer and i dont think they offer digital yet even though the lines are in. nobody offers any broadband service here except satellite. kinda sucks expecially when you know that the lines are buried right by the house. nobody really watches enough tv to get cable in my house so we dont subscribe to it.

I'm curious...how so? I had analog cable forever and when I switched to DirecTV I was amazed - it looks like all the channels you watch are a DVD. Plus you can buy the NFL Sunday ticket and get EVERY single NFL game!

We have satelite... if we ever get a cable w/ internet combo in our area, we will probably switch over to that. Consolidate everything into a single bill.
