Yup I am yet another victim of the IBM 60GXP woes. Around the end of November last year my Maxtor died as well. Now I am left with my trusty but extremely slow Western Digital. You know what right now WD is my favorite HD company. I don't care what others have experienced but I have RMAed Maxtor hard drives 4 times and this 60GXP lasted me about 3 months. The western digital might be a slow drive but it keeps on ticking.

Anyone know of any good deals on Hard Drives I think I am going to be looking for a pair of ATA133 HDs and a pair of ATA100 HDs.

Sorry about your cable and yeah I lost some pretty important things.

I was considering paying the 200 dollars for data recovery, but eh life goes on. I lost 10gigs of MP3's, 8gigs of movies, and about 1gig of emails (yeah I have a lot of emails) and some reviews I was working on.

I had my WD 13.3g drive die on me a while ago and I was going to pay like $500 to get the info back. Luckily I decided to try to boot it up one more time. I was able to copy 95% of the info off before it made its last few clicky noises and locked up my computer.

Now my 40gxp IBM is starting to make funky noises and be really slow like it's stoned. Erg.. time to back everything up again I guess.

hey newegg has the seagate 40gb drives for $85 a pop, but knowing you you could probably get them a lot cheaper.
