The content industry -- especially Hollywood and the record labels -- wants the solution built into computers and other digital devices, such as Palm Pilots and MP3 players. The industry also wants it built into software, operating systems, Web browsers, and routers -- the devices that guide Internet traffic. It's a solution designed around the assumption that nearly all computer and Internet users are potential large-scale infringers.

In short: The content industry wants to place a copyright cop in your computer. It also wants to station one anyplace else on the Internet where an unauthorized copy might be made. And if the industry has its way, we all may feel the consequences. Digital videos you shot in 1999 may be unplayable on your computer in 2009. You may no longer be able to move music or video files around easily from one computer to another (from, say, a home desktop to a laptop or to a personal digital assistant).

ummm, this will never happen. if they do, bye bye Microsoft, everyone will go to Linux or BSD. and if they build it into the hardware, bye bye Dell et al., everyone even the folks who don't know jack about comps will build there own to get around this. screw the "content industry."

i like beOS, but they still don't support my stuff on my laptop. i like the shell tho, and the mount tools. sad part is that it's not supporting my video or sound...and without those it's hard to tell what else is running and what's not. it's just too ugly to spend that kind of time with.

Are you kidding? That would make major corporations have to kowtow to consumers! We wouldn't want that, now would we!?!

We really need to start putting the music industry in their place. It's a luxury industry. It has to be responsive to the market or create that market.
If consumers rebell against their attempts to control our lives they will have to give in. When they run out of money they will disappear and new, less dictorial, companies will take their place.
Wake up people it's getting time to kick some corporate ass!

that's basically why i don't buy 20 freakin dollar cd's. I will pay 10 to maybe 14 bux for a cd... 15 if i really, really, really like them... but that's still pushing it.

I run winME/linux. I have no intention of upgrading my windows operating system. Hell, only reason i use ME now is to look at pr0n... cause i'm not cool enough how to figure out how to use it in linux..

music industry can kiss mah white buttocks if it wants to keep up these draconian measures... hell.. they can kiss it now..

*gets off soapbox*
