Ubid Speakers from Last Week's Deals Page Follow up...

I won a pair of speakers from the Ubid deal posted by Leon. They charged me about $150 shipping, making it about $410 for the pair. I knew the shipping would be steep and bid accordingly, since the speakers were supposed to be around 75 lbs each. I was surprised to see that the confirm I received from Ubid today showed a FEDEX tracking # with a total weight of 28 lbs, not 150 or so as expected.

Has anyone else purchased one of these? I'm interested to see what your experience was and to know if my tracking # with only 28 lbs means anything. Thanks.

Yes thats the one I bid on. Did you get two separate tracking #s then? I only got one for 28 lbs. I'm going to have to call them. Anyone have a # on UBid? I'll check my credit card for it.

you should definitely email ubid about that, I had the same problem with ubid a while back when they charged me $60 shipping for a pair of 6.5 car speakers( those normally ship for around 15-20 ). It seems to me that with ubid you can get some pretty good deals but once in a while something like this comes up.

Well, if you know anything about these speakers, they are huge and equally as heavy. I totally agree that Ubid is a shipping rip-off, but $410 for a pair of S312's is really a damn good deal.

Ubid charge more shipping but the total is still cheaper then ebay.
Sometime if you are lucky , you can get a better deal like me:P :P

I got the s312's from Ubid and i only got one tracking number but recieved two speakers... And they are HEAVY and they do weigh 75lbs each :D

Check out ebay, some people bought them and are trying to sell them but aren't getting much for them.......

Anyone using them yet? I'm really happy with mine. I just ordered a bigger subwoofer to replace the one I'm using now. Sadly, the new sub is truly hernia inducingly heavy.

Classical, Jazz, Rock, Metal, ETC.

How do they perform in movies?

I'm also wanting new speakers or a new HDTV, but I don't know if I should really splurge like that. The new HDTV would cost $1500, those speakers are $420 about.

I know they're huge, I saw the boxes at best buy - but how do they sound? Currently I have philips speakers (100W) and they're really bad for music but great for movies.

I am also bidding on the 94 lb 1000 watt subwoofer up right now at ubid.

After I got my speakers I emailed back Ubid and they credited me $43 for overcharging me shiping, so the speakers only cost me $370 SHIPPED. Now thats a good deal.

Anyone else getting the subwoofer (Infinity 1000 model)?

What did you use to prove they overcharged you.... Beside the obvious?
