Whenever I try to scan anything other than one file on my PC with Norton, it freezes up. Let's say I want to scan my C: drive. I click Scan for viruses, and it open a dialog box that shows the process of the scan. It goes through "Scanning Memory" all the way to the end, but before it can being "Scanning Master Boot Records", it freezes. It doesn't matter if its the whole hard drive or just a folder, the same thing happens.
I've looked on the Norton site with little success. If anyone has any insight to this, please help!
Thanks.

I always do this. I ask a question and no one answers except for me. Oh well atleast if someone searches for Norton they will not have an dead link.
The problem that I was having was that "Live Reg" was not updated with the latest drivers. After rebooting Norton does a "Subscription Confirmation", where it logs onto Symantec's website and makes sure that you have a valid subscription. After it does that, it checks to make sure that you have all the latest updates, not only virus definitions but also the software itself. However initially after installation, you need to manually have the software updated, by clicking on "Live Update". Even after you use Live Update once and it says you are updated, reboot and run it again. I ran it three times before I was completed and no further updates were necessary.
After all this, I no longer had a problem. Hope this is of use to someone in the future.
