What's the best ps2 mod chip out there?

Heard of a USB mod chip for the ps2. Anyone know anything regarding this?

the usb mod chip ive seen requires you to solder one wire in two places on the mother board. ive alse heard that the ps2 has flashable memory so if sony ever puts out newer ps2 drivers, the mod chip may stop working. i have heard of some companies which offer free upgrade + shipping when the newest mod chip code is available.
