View Full Version : Problem installing windows xp

im installing xp on one of my computers and i get an error in the middle of setup after it reboots "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME". i get the blue screen and when i reboot, i keep getting the same thing.
any ideas?

My best idea is to stick with 2k or 98se. At present XP is not working for me. :(
I'm waiting for the first service pack before switching to WinXP.

Boot record maybe got hosed up during the install? Outside shot, the hard drive is dying. Reformat, try again.

i tried formatting twice and i got that error
i just reformatted all my hard drives and im about to try again. hopefully this works..

this sucks.. im still getting that error after formatting all my hard drives. does anyone have any clue what this error means and how to get around it?

ok i did some more research and it means that you are using a udma drive without a udma cable. it makes sense to me because i just broke mine and put in a regular cable.. i just put in a new ata cable and hopefully this should work.
