Thanks for reading. I am trying to run a .exe on a Windows NT machine, but everytime I run it, it opens up a MS-Dos shell. I do not want it to do this, because the program says "cannot run from Ms-Dos". Any ideas how I can make the program run from windows, and not Ms-Dos? Thanks!

If the .exe is popping up a DOS window, then it's not a windows program or it's not compatible with NT. If you're getting the 'cannot run from MS-DOS', my best guess is that it just doesn't like NT. Can you try it on another OS - Win98 perhaps?

Hi Jeffbx thanks for responding. I just double checked the website and it lists these as the OS's it supports:

Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0 Workstation, 2000 Professional, XP Home Edition, and XP Professional.

I am running NT 4.0 so I don't understand why it wouldn't work. Any other insight? Thanks!

Weird - what program is it? If it's trying to run a setup program you may needs admin rights on the local machine...

The program is Retrospect Backup (http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=rdb_win). It is a set up program and I am logged in as the Admin when I run it. I am perplexed.

Wow, I'm out of ideas. The only other thing I can think of is that the file may be corrupt. If you downloaded it, you may want to try the download again...
