Great Job rjho!
Now we know what you want!
You know what? I bet every gotapexer just dropped what they were doing and they're currently looking for you right now....because why look for it yourself when others can find it for you?
Here's an idea..first research it, then find out what models you want, then give the lowest price you found it for, then ask for help.
From all I know, you've just said "Damn it, I need a hard drive yea big, and I'm to damn lazy to search for it myself. Have these poeple go find the best price for me"
I'm essentially saying what Muffdivr is saying, but in a slightly more crude manner

if you're in a mood not to do an online purchase, just go down to your local best buy and pick one up for 189.99. They had them listed in this last sunday's flyer (sp?)

It's not exactly that. It's people who don't even bother looking a bit. If they've looked around for a while and then ask for help, and i know a good deal, I have No problem at all helping them. To tell you the truth, alot of the newbies don't even bother looking.
How about this..I can stop complaining about stuff like that and help you cold-search on a whime for a product for:
1) A 5 dollar/hr consulting fee.
2) A 20 dollar initial fee.
I know it sounds ludicrous, but seriously alot of people are just taking advantage of this board w/o contributing back to it. People like ugly and Jenny have no incentive whatsoever to post all the deals that they do.
Alot of newbies are blackholes, they take everything down, and nothing comes out of them...and they suck..alot

Jeepers, you obviously missed the oint about these forums as much as the newbies and the goobs do.
This site is for people who need deal helps too. But, the only proper way to ask for help is to first research it thru. You don't just turn away people because they ask for help, just because they're bothering you..
Looking at your "registration date", you're obviously relatively new here. And from the looks of it, you're obviously not understanding the nature of this forum.
All i can say is you're just as damn selfish as those who are on this board who only care for themselves.

what's the deal psycho? did your girlfriend break up with you? ...maybe boyfriend? did your golden retriever dump your @$$? did your mom tell you that she was the star of a german scheisser video?
you seem to be in a very very foul mood, and i (don't even try to call me a newbie) don't see what is so offensive about people profiting from this board. Some people don't see very good deals too often, so...they don't post them (a brilliant concept...). They came across the Got Apex forum somehow or other, and they realized how much use they can get from this board. I can't say that I disagree with their use. Before i registered on the board, i had been watching the board for about 2 weeks, and before that, i had been checking the deals page for about a month; i don't doubt that you came along the same way.
We can't become the old anandtech and flame all newbies. He just asked a simple question; "who can get a good deal on a hard drive." He could've done a better post, by defining "a good deal" and telling us where he had looked and what prices he had found, but he doesn't deserve to be the target of anger. Back down.
I know that when i find a good deal on something, i have a set 4-step thought process:
(1) Is it worth buying for me, at this price?
(2) Can I price match it anywhere?
(3) Do I have some Gift Certificate that i forgot about (jaboom, mypoints...)?
(4) Is it worth posting on Got Apex?
Just be happy that you also get to reap some of the benefits of this board; I know that I am. Just leave the newbies alone.

Hes not telling you to go look for him, hes just asking if you know a decent price somewhere, would you share the info.
This is what i know,
Onvia had a 30 gig 5400 dma/66 maxtor drive, for 125 (150 - 25 coupon). I'm not sure if the deal is still on but go there and search for it or you could search the old messages here at apex.

Onvia's coupon now has a minimum $200 purchase. If you live in CA it's still an awesome deal as Onvia doesn't charge shipping or tax, and on a $150 item that save about $15. Add something to get your total up to $200 if you think their prices are good. I don't think they have any Maxtor's on sale now though, only a Seagate.
Buy.com has free shipping for current customers, or $20 off $100 or $30 off $150 which might yield better results.
Yes he could look for the info, but we could also help.

I thought this was the DEALS FORUM!! DUH? Not only can you post your latest deals, you can request them. At least that's what I have been led to believe. Search engines definitely do NOT give you deals of the day or the moment. And sites like pricewatch only will post deals whose subscibers post them. And even then, those deals can be a week or two old.For fast moving items that could only last a day or two, this is the place to post and find items without a lotta hassle.
