anyone know how to get out of a leased car? or maybe have a few creative suggestions? (short of stopping payments so they reposses it.) oh, and even if they do reposess it, aren't you still responsible for it? i ask this b/c i've pretty much destroyed my credit this past year being unemployed and all. but i've never been late on a car payment, so i guess i should try to keep that good :) otherwise i'd just say screw it (like i did w/ most of my other bills ;) )

also, i'm not even sure i really want to get rid of my car, but i'd like to see if i could.

Well, you could find someone to take over the lease. You can also end the lease early, but it would be VERY costly. I'd suggest the first option if possible.

There really aren't many ways to go about returning a car. Just DON'T stop payments. My roommate did that, and now, she owes money on a car that was repoed. Now you can imagine how her credit is...can't apply for anything that requires credit checks.
If you are intent on cancelling your lease, ask the dealer how much it would cost. That's the safest way without having your credit take a dive any further.
Good luck!
