Good ol W2K prob

When I try to shutdown or restart W2K it doesn't. The proggys shutdown and I can hear the hard drive spinning down and clicking off but the desktop just stays there. Then its completely locked. Anyone ever heard of this, or a solution short of reformatting.

Sounds like one of your programs isn't closing correctly before shutting down. This could be a network thing also. Did this just start acting up? What have you installed lately?

Well I found the problem I had 5 viruses. I just had norton take care of all of em and it started shutting down correctly.

yuck which ones? if it is any of the complicated virii like Funlove, you might want to consider reformatting. they change so many wierd settings and wierd DLLs that you may have wierd problems down the road. just speaking from personal experience :)
