I live in a dorm, our netadmins freak when we suck bandwidth.
Green=our upload
Blue=our download
They have it capped and filtered so certain files get priority, below is a graph that is wierd. for a 24 hour period someone went crazy? Anyone have any ideas what spikes upload every 15 min. I thought it was me and my webcam. But not so, i disconnected my CAT 5 at 12am (0)because I was afraid I was busted.

A hall of 500, yet could be that not everyone uses the router... The week pic is typical usage the green spikes are wierd
Someone may have setup limits on the uploads on a hourly basis. So when the time limit is up, someone who is sending a huge file quickly sends as much data as fast as the network allows, resulting in the spikes.

Possible, but unlikely, I see the upload limit, yet why this sudden 12 hr surge, wouldnt you get annoyed after a few min of delay and cancel... Also I have uploaded at a constant much higher with out stops.

Could also be some moron with an e-mail or IIS virus - the spikes could be the virus propagating itself.

That's a good question - interesting though that your netadmins use Statcast for their monitoring/graphing.
Statcast is not a very good program for trend analysis - I know because my company stopped using it a year ago. Your graph shows a sample every 10 minutes - the number corresponding to the graph is not an average, but a snapshot of the utilization every 10 minutes. This is NOT good for trend analysis since it does not show you what is happening the other 9 minutes 59 seconds of the period.
Whoever is using your segment like that is sending every 30 minutes or so. He could very well be sending for 5-15 minutes like that. It definitely looks like it is an automated process so who knows what it could be. Got a sniffer?
