i have an athlon 1200 and its temperature runs ridiculously high, RIDICULOUSLY high. right now i have a coolermaster fan, which runs at about 5000rpm.

what is the best cpu fan for t-birds??? i also plan to buy some arctic silver II soon...thx in advance

You should be more concerned about your heatsink than your fan. To me the fan looks fine, what kind of HS are you using? And since you're not already using ASII then I suggest you do that first before replacing the fan.

OOOPS, sorry.....i meant heatsink AND fan (i didnt think they made fans by themselves :o :D )

...i dunno exactly what kind of HS i have, just that it came with my coolermaster fan. its one of those cube-shaped ones (not circular), if that helps :o

The sk6 by thermalright is a good heatsink

the coolermaster hhc-001 (or something like that) is a good one also. This one can keep CPUs cool even with a slower fan.

Yeah, in fact, you could probably just get an sk6 bare and switch over your existing fan.

does a faster fan (7000rpm) regardless of noise, necessarily lead to cooler temps?

also, i have a 300w psu. do 350w and 400w psu's keep systems cooler?

more power = more heat...there are small 300W PSU with 2 or 3 cooling fans on them. A faster fan doesn't necessarily ake something cooler it just moves more air. Cooling really comes from dissipation through the fins on the heatsink...the FAN just moves the air where it should go.
