When Staples has the Sony 24x CDRW drive for $119.00 before any rebates or coupons... that must mean that SOMETHING big must be coming up soon that will make this drive (relatively) obsolete.


What could it be?

Yeah... that's where the idea for this thread came from. I wonder if the Staples buyers recently placed an order for 10,000 6x DVD-R drives, or something.

I just get the feeling that a paradigm-shift is near.

or.. perhaps it is just as cheap to manufacture a 24X CDRW as it is to make a 4X CDRW
