confusion

i know this is a crosspost but i realized this is the better forum for it:
i have a p4 1.7ghz with an asus p4t mb. i also have 768mb of samsung RDRAM and an ata100 hard drive running winxp. The computer has been extremely sluggish all the time. cpu idle always says 0% idle and in task manager, it always says that 100% of the cpu is in use. I tried doing fresh installs of xp twice and it doesnt help. also, i dont even have that many processes running in the backround.. about 5 of the services are from my user account and the others are just the system processes.

any idea?

thanks
Marc

hrm...obviously something is hoging the CPU time...there has got to be a way to find out what...I do remember a program that would tell you what is taking all the CPu time, but i forget where to get it

actually, the task manager itself has a tab so you can see what is hogging all the resources...I'd guess some bad drivers, but you'll have to trace it down.
