SSSSSSS: Waking Up WAY Early w/ Your Leg Covered In Cat Pee

*sigh* Ok, so my alarm was set for 7:55. At 6:24, I wake up to go to the bathroom and realize my lower leg is damp. Then I notice that my blanket down by my leg is soaking wet. (I thought, Damn, I was hot and sweated, which occasionally happens.) THEN I notice that there was a HUGE wet spot down by the foot of my bed. (No, this did NOT come from me. :P )

Then I notice that the new cat is up on the bed, laying between my hubby & me. I reach down, touch the spot, sniff my fingers and realize it is cat pee. I was SOOOOOOO upset. The spot is literally a foot long and about 6 inches wide. Too big to just ignore until 8:00. So Scott went ahead and got up, I got a towel, stripped the bed, soaked up as much from the mattress as I could, then lay down on his side of the bed and used his blanket until 8:00.

But damn, I'm tired cause that last hour and a half was horrible sleep. Now I have to figure out how to clean the mattress. :(

After you clean the "pee" area with soap and water as best you can, spray the area with FEBREZE, which is a very effective deodorant made by P & G. If necessary, spray it a second time. (You can get it at just about any supermarket or large discount store).

One of our cats 'sprayed' the side of a new matress just after it had been delivered, and I used this on it. It worked absolutely great and got rid of the odor immediately. It works so well that NATIONAL CAR RENTAL uses this to freshen their vehicles when they are cleaning and servicing them between rentals.

If the febreze doesn't work because the potency of the smell try Bio-Ex. It can be found at pet stores. It soaks up the enzymes in the tinkle or something like that.

Now I'm worried about WHY she did that. :( I REALLY can't afford another vet visit (since I spent $125 at the doctor for myself yesterday). But I'm wondering if she has a UTI. (Urinary Tract Infection.)

There's something called Nature's Miracle you can get at the pet store. Really good for odors and stains.

Nature's Miracle works miracles. Truthfully, I have been using the stuff for years. My dog Farfel in his older years had some control problems due to a genetic disease. He ended up peeing or crapping in most aras of the house, including my room, my car, etc. Natures Miracle cleaned it all up, including my car. Got the smell and stain out, of even the worse spots.

Ok, Chrissy gave me the idea to use water & some lysol and then soak towels and press the water into the mattress and then soak it up with dry towels. We did that and it worked great to get most of the smell up and there is no pee stain. There is still a slight smell, so when we go to the store later, we're going to get some Febreeze and use it to get the rest out. :)

wow that sux......cat pee is bad....so how come ur cat sleeps in ur bed? u shuld make it a bed in the kitchen or something....with tons of blankets....



i would like to be a dog wouldn't u? i mean all day u just run around chasing your tail or sleeping or eating or drinking....that'd be soooo easy...

Oh, and Jenny, I was just about to mention the lysol part. It isn't for the odor as much as it is a disinfectant.

Was sleeping on the floor on a sleeping bag....woke up to find my leg and bag wet. Disgusting!

Is it potty trained? It just might be that it is not comfortable enough in your house to make a trek to the litter box. :shrug:

Oh, yeah, she's litter box trained. She pees & poops in them (we have several around the house since we have 3 cats now. :) ) but doesn't really cover them up. I just assume that is from being out wild for however long...

The vet suggested that it could have been a couple of things. It looks like (from she shape of the pee area) she was trying to get off the bed and get to the litter box and couldn't hold it. She might have had a slight bladder infection or something like that.

She hasn't done it again and is using the litter box, so we're just going to wait and see. :)
