What events are you definitely gonna wear? What is boring to you? Are you gonna watch any of it?

I'm not much of an olympics buff but I think they royally screwed up when they did the alternating thing every 2 years. It seemed more exciting when it came around every 4 years.

Hehe, do you remember when Olympics only occured every 4 years? I think they said this is the 19th Winter Olympics, and I'm not sure how many Summer Olympics have occured. Well, just think of it in terms of... Summer Olympics comes around every 4 years, as does Winter. =) After 2 full weeks of Olympics on TV and all over the news, many people may get sick of it. Take a 2 year breather and then wow, its different events! get sick of that, wait another 2 years.
I watched part of the opening ceremonies on tv today. When the procession ended, they welcomed everyone in French followed by English. How about all the other languages (granted it may take several minutes)? Why was French chosen?
In addition, when watching the 5 Native American tribes perform, it was great to hear what was going on from the broadcasters. What I wonder is.. What are the people from other countries thinking? Sure, its a sign of unity, but do they question why the people are dressed the way they are, what meaning is there behind it, etc.? But nonetheless, I enjoyed the message they sent. Its fascinating that thats the first time all five tribes got together. For those who didn't watch, the meaning of it was there are 5 continents participating, and they unite at the Olympics as did the Native Americans, setting aside all differences.
Also, when the US had their procession, it seemed like neverending! As opposed to some countries which only had one athelete. It was as if the US represented over 50% of the atheletes!
oh boy, lost my train of thought.. must sleep
I'm going to watch the snowboarding, and I'm sure I will be forced to watch some ice skating, since that is my daughter's favorite thing. We froze our butts off watching the flame run by, but it was pretty cool. We saw a one legged runner, and it was really interesting trying to explain THAT to my 5 year old.
