I know about the infinity sub from ubid, but seems like that $500 is still a little bit out of my price range. Anyone know a great deal on a sub that gets below 30hz and is around $200. Does anyone have experience with the Earthquake Sub 80? I can't find any specs on the frequency range. thanks for the help.

well I have the Boston Acoustics PV600 powered sub, and it puts out some very nice bass. The lowest price I could find on it was $359, which is quite good including the suggested retail price is $449.

Circuit City sometimes has open box deals on Veldyne subs, which are very nice, and you can sometimes find them for 200, though 300 is more the norm. They get the higher ratings at audioreview.com - the infins, while nice, have had some quality control issues of late.

I am thinking about this subwoofer although I am still open to suggestions. It got great reviews. It is $200 at Best Buy. I found it online for $150 shipped. I wonder if anyone knows if Best Buy or Sears will price match?

I think you'll be much better off paying a little more and going with LPMillers' recommendation. Speakers are best made by companies that make ONLY speakers. (that's if he's talking about velodyne and not veldyne.)

The Sony Sub has gotten several good user reviews. A lot of people who are on a budget have sworn by them at www.hometheaterforum.com
That site is a really good site and you might be able to get some more help over there picking out a sub.
Just do a search for the sony sub over there and you will get people's opinions.
