Council bans covered erections in public
A town council in Pennsylvania has banned men from having erections in public.
Councillors in Locust Township unanimously passed the move which also bans public nudity.
The maximum penalty for breaking the law is a £220 fine and three months in jail.
The town's lawyer says "normal occurrences" won't be prosecuted but if someone brought attention to the erection, authorities would act, local daily newspaper the Press Enterprise reports.
Lawyer Todd Kerstetter said: "We're not going to have a problem with a guy walking down the street and the police chief pulling him over for it.
"This is not meant to be a tricky term, or give our police officers difficulty in enforcing the law."
He added: "The supervisors are taking a proactive approach to protect the health, safety and morals of the community."

that's so stupid. if someone is calling attention to an erection in an inappropriate manner, it's called sexual harrassment and you prosecute them in that fashion. creating a new law that bans ALL ERECTIONS IN PUBLIC (but hey, we'll only prosecute it IF... uhhh, yeah) is just asinine.

Damn, I'm glad I didn't grow up in that town. I'd have had a mile long record before I was 9.

Well, if you happended to get an erection on the street, you'd probably want to hide any hard evidence before you get accused. :dodgy:

hahahah i agree with OB this is hilarious :hihi:
is that a salami in your pocket, or are you in violation of state penal code 313.5, sec A? :hihi:
At least it wasn't passed in the same town where women jogging nude is legal. They'd have one hell of a problem finding enough space at the precints.

my guess on this law is that it's probably designed to in some way limit adult entertainment businesses, and give police a way to prosecute men who are frequenting "establishments". it is somewhat puntative b/c laws targeting these businesses usually punish the women involved but do nothing to all the men who are there. i think it is a sign of sexist attitudes (which still exist subconsciously today) that blame women for promiscuity while holding men guiltless.
so these laws may actually be designed to counteract this bias. but it still seems kind of weird.

I find it totaly un-funny.
They say they are going to have selective enforcement? Didn't that go out of style with the Jim Crowe laws? If they wanted to make "bringing attention to" a coverd erection illegal, they that's what they should make illegal. Next just having a bulge will be made illegal. "I'm sorry sir, you have to go to jail now, you have a big d**k."
The freaks who made this law are one of the following:
1) Man hating women.
2) Jealous men with erectile disfunction.
3) Whipped men with man hating wives.
4) Right wing Christian religeous nuts.
So how long are we going to allow these freaks to run things for us "normal" Americans who realize that it's not that big of a deal?

I'm an upstanding citizen of the state of PA, and I just wanted to let you all know that this is not the first in asinine laws we have here in Penn's Woods.
For example, we have a Liquor Control Board (all lifetime appointees who are in everyone's pockets), which limits purchases of booze. You have to buy beer at a distributor (in 24 pack cases only) or at bars (by the sixer). Want wine or liquor? Have to go to a state run store that has dumb hours and a set of employees that rival Radioshack or BestBuy for strangeness.
