Going into the all star game all the media was talking about was Allen Iverson and MJ. AI cuz he was playing in Philly and MJ cuz he always performs well at these events. No mention of the best guard in the game.
I thought AI wouldnt get to the rim with all the west big men.
MJ, if matched with Kobe, would get eaten up and have nothing left for offense(KG did that and MJ's missed dunk lol).
I told my friends that Kobe would get MVP cuz he was going home and is the hungriest to prove something.
Philly fans could have been a little more gracious and booed a little less. I mean its not like its the Finalls or anything( :P ).
Thank you Philliy, for passing up Kobe and picking up AI in the 96 draft
Thanks for all the booing. It'll just cement Kobe's bond with the city of Los Angeles.
Thanks for the All Star game and finally if you make it this year, I'd like to thank you in advance for our next title.

The reason why Kobe got booed is because the folks in Philly know Kobe. The real Kobe. I have to say I never liked Kobe from the get-go. He was way too arrogant before he proved anything. I think that was one of the reasons. And of course, last years finals didn't help the case.
I feel no sympathy for him. This is what happens when your past catches up to you.
Philly fans are well known to be punks. This is another confirmation of that fact.

I dunno. That could be, but I think they're just bitter because they got slapped around last year in the finals. After all, they boo'd Derek Fisher the day before in the 3 on 3 and he's not from Philly. What poor hospitality. :disa:

well, the booing of fisher is definitely because of the beating they received in the finals...the booing of kobe is prob a combination of that and the fact that he's an arrogant cocky little biotch. i don't mean to tread on any of you laker fans, but c'mon the guy plays with such a smug look on his face and obviously thinks he's the man...that i don't know how anyone could like him. hell, i'm not from philly, i'm not a 76ers fan...but if i was at the allstar game and saw him shooting the ball 30times, i'd boo him too. he took what should have been a fun game that showcases all the stars' skills and made it the kobe show...definitely not cool. he was selfish, in the allstar game...not the venue for selfishness...regualr season game, playoffs, fine...he's the star, he should run the show...but being as selfish and cocky as he was at the allstar game shows very poor sportsmanship.

its funny people talk about how "smug" etc Kobe appears to be while playing. MJ carried that smug look and talked alot more.
Don't tell me what Mike accomplished either, cuz Kobe has done more in the same amount of time and is by far a better defensive player, if you count years in the league or age, than Jordan was/is.
Basketball is a game of attitude. Doesnt Allen Iverson talk smak or showboat when he can? He does. Reggie Miller, Gary Payton, Sam Cassel and Nick Van Excel all talk alot more than number 8(and what do they have to show for it?).
Kobe has earned the right to carry himself like the predator he is. 25 points , 5+ boards ,5+ assists and almost 2 steals a game makes him the best guard in the game. Highlighted by 57 points in only 3 quarters. He can shut down any guard in the game. He hasnt folded like Vince or Made himself out to be better than what he is(Tracy Mcgrady lol).
I think some hate just to hate cuz Kobe hasn't done anything worse than any of the other young superstars in the game.

The booing during the game was fine, but during the MVP trophy presentation, that was a bit too harsh. But other than that, all the other booing is fine. After all, in the finals, Kobe said he wanted to go to Philly and "cut their hearts out", talking about the fans. Geezus, what would you do if someone said that to you.

Spoken like a true Southern California. Let me guess, Lker fan? I'm just teasin'. Here's a story that I read in ESPN that shares some insight as to why Kobe was booed.
http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2002/0211/1330313.html
To be honest, I think Kobe is super talented. He's the kind of guy that you can count on making the shots. Heck, I'd pick him from a sheer talent standpoint if I had an NBA team.
Right now, I don't have a problem with him talking trash, etc. It's all good cuz he can back it up. But he was being all cocky ever since he came into the league. And like Tse How said. Kobe made some pretty harsh comments about Philly fans. :shake:
And let us not forget the fact that before the Shaq-Kobe incident, Kobe would alienate himself from the team. There was no "Team" mentality there.
Anyway, one thing that Kobe has against him is that he's playing with Big Daddy Diesel and most won't give him enough credit for his accomplishments. Its sorta of sad, however, there's some validity to it. So the MJ and Kobe comparisons shouldn't even be made. Kobe has still much to prove if in fact Shaq's retiring in 2 years. Then you can probably compare the two of them based on what they have accomplished in their careers.

Also, to add to what I said earlier about Kobe saying he wanted to "Cut the philly fan's hearts out". He also said he was a "laker all the way" Something along the lines of being philly born but laker bred. Basically he turned his back on Philly and now he wants forgiveness without actually apologizing. You can get more inside details at www.slamonline.com .
