he went SAILING! i screamed!

oh, and go danny kass stickin' it to salt lake jersey style! i think its so funny, cause he grew up in the town that i go snowboarding in, and there were all these signs all over the mountain that say "stick it to salt lake jersey style" and i can't stop laughing!

Don't even bother. I tried it last last winter. When you're going up the lift, you have to hold the entire board's weight with one foot. It puts so much freaking stress on your ankle that you wouldn't even believe. And when you have to get off the lift, it's so impossible to land without wiping out. I HATED IT!!! ;)

WAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! :bigmouth:

Asian kids seem to have more of a problem with boarding than others...just an observation made while spraying people (that are sitting on their A$$es in the middle of the slope) with snow.

dood - i loved it when i tried it... you need more muscles in your legs!

haha, you have to use your free foot to help support your board weight on the lifts.

no, i didnt get the hang of carving, but i was almost to that point. I was a little scared ot breaking a bone or two, and then having to drive back 11hours so i didnt push it too hard.

C'mon guys. Nothings easy the first time. I didn't really enjoy it back in high school, cause I spent most of my time busting my butt trying to learn. I went on and off for a couple years and managed to get decently good. I want again this winter (Heavenly @ Lake Tahoe) for the first time in five years. I was surprised. It's like bike riding. You really don't lose it. It was my first time back and I actually think I rode better than five years ago. It helped that the slope conditions at Heavenly were 100 times better than the "little hill" I used to go to back then. Anyhow, I feel really confident now and enjoy it so much. Keep at it and you'll get addicted.

Try putting your free foot UNDER the snowboard. :heh:

well, if u didn't use a board that was 180cm and 15 years old, then it probably would be pretty light ;) jk, but most newer boards are significantly lighter then they were a few years ago!

and the trick to not having foot pain while on the lift is to loosen your straps, that way your foot can move a little more freely. trust me, this makes a HUGE difference.

and the whole getting off the lift without falling is way over rated. i go down black diamonds without a problem, and i constantly wipe out when getting off the lifts!

The trick to getting off the lift without falling is to put most of the weight on the front foot, and press the back foot against the back binding as hard as you can. Screw the stomp pad too, it doesn't do anything. And trust me, this works, it's how I teach the 3rd graders to get off.

they rock!

and if i don't have a stomp pad my foot flys off my board and i go sailing.

I always thought step-ins would solve the problem of getting off the lift, cause I thought you could just lock in the moment you stepped off the life. But it doesn't work like that. Snow always gets caught in the mechanism and you gotta stomp down pretty hard and often it's hard to aim when forcing your foot into the bindings. I agree it's a little more convenient, but step-ins have it's share of problems.

So you get flows. I got a pair this season, and i must say, they are a godsend, check em out. The back folds down so you can get in quick, and they're still a strap based binding. w00t!

I think I might try snowboarding again sometime this Spring Break. I didn't like it the first time....maybe I'll like it better the second?

Just don't be afraid. A lot of the kids come into my class and they're scared and I have to get them moved down because they're not ready yet. As long as you are confident and get the balance down, you should have fun.

omg, i so want those.
but some people (who don't have them, mind u) say they suck.

anyway, i've been looking around for them, and i can't seem to find a shop that carries them... my lovely friend who is a manager at a snowboard shop said its cause they suck. but u are the second person who i've met (or talked to at least) who says that they are good.

maybe at the end of this season i'll pick me up a set. and maybe i'll get a new board too, cause the one i got last season is a little too advanced for me :)

They are a little on the heavy side, but still pretty light. Overall I have not had any problems with them and recommend them to anyone looking to get Step-In bindings. In my opinion, SI bindings don't offer the same feel as Strap, and, for me at least, feel too disconnected from the board. I just feel much more in control with straps. The convenience of step ins was what I was looking for, so I bought those last season. It kinda pisses me off cuz everyone last year was like "Whoa, cool!" and now it seems like everyone has them. Oh well, It's only a matter of time before something this innovative is discovered by the public. It almost gave me the same feeling as when snowboarding went mainstream in 1998. I was against it at first, but then it grew on me. Wow. I went off on a tangent there. Anyways, <Mr. T>I pity da fool who diss on Flows</Mr. T>
