Well, welcome to The Wonderful World Of IrishSSİ. Along with Corsec and some others, I'll be posting up news and reviews for the Got|Games section of the site.

I was inquiring as to what you, the general population, would like to see. What systems do you want coverage of? More coverage of one, less of another? Do you want to know every time a new patch comes out for a game? What about mods for games?

Your input will help me tailor the news to get you more of the stuff you want and less of the garbage(hint hint... ramsinks and mouse skates! :) ) that you'd rather not see.

Equal coverage for all current-generation systems and PC would be a plus.

I don't think you need to include patch or add-on information, unless it is something huge. If someone owns a game, it is his/her obligation to keep up on this kind of thing, not yours. However, mods are something that could be given coverage from time to time. Maybe feature a "Mod of the Week", focusing on different games from time to time, not just Quake III or Half-Life, which tend to be the most popular.

Have games reviewed by people familiar with that type of game. I mean if someone doesn't like role playing (first person perspective, strategy, etc.) games, then they shouldn't be doing that review. It doesn't make sense, they wouldn't have the insights that a person who plays that type of game would have. It may mean that there will be more people reviewing games, but I think it will make for better reviews. Most people have their favorite types of games and know what makes that type of game enjoyable.

Tell us what type of system components are really needed to play the game. If my graphic card isn't fast enough, I'd like to know before I spend any money. Nothing's worse than barely being to play a game. What joysticks or game controllers are the best for which game?

It would be nice to know about when patches are released. Another thing that could be done is an 'Ask the expert' thread. Give tips and hints to help some of us that extra push to go farther in a game. How many hours (days, weeks) of gameplay can we expect from a game? I've got a lot of games that got old real fast!

Also as always, letting people know where the best prices are for games would be appreciated.

As far as the patches go, I'd say, maybe don't host them, but you might set up a page (a la Deals Coupon page) that links to the patches.

I'd just like to see how the site progresses, and then, if I notice anything, I'll make more suggestions.

Oh, btw, DF, do you still play Shogo? I tried to play it once, but my system was too slow at the time run it. So I never ended up buying it.

OK, so it's not news or reviews, but maybe there could be a place to announce tourneys or regional games - such as the G|A Starcraft tournament that's been going on for several months, or any other games that people want to volunteer to host...

If ya shoot me an email, I'll put up any tournys we find that might appeal to the masses...

Sadly no one plays multiplayer Star Trek: Elite Forces anymore. It's only the bots. Sigh.
