screen lock ups

posted this on another site, but didnt get an answer so trying here:

Welp, i formatted my puter reinstalled all the drivers and all that good stuff. Everytime I load to play cs, a random amount of time it till freeze up and the sound will loop, making me have to restart. And now when im playing other games its doing close to the same thing. playing then randomly the screen freezes and having to reboot again.

ok im so confused now =\ games are running fine w/o the sound card, no mess ups. but then i install 3d2k1se it freezes up every time, with the sound card, or w/o, so maybe its something else =\
freezing up the same way.

anyideas?

Maybe an "infinite loop" error? I don't know much about it, but I've been hearing about quite a bit. You might want to check through the Software Forum here for similar problems. You have Win XP, a Via chipset, and an nVidia card. Those seem to be the systems most plagued by that error. :shrug:
