The first Dreamcast cds got copied last night. And you don't need a mod chip to play, but you do need the boot cd. Kinda cool eh?

yeah i was talking to the guys from utopia last night. they did well in releasing that long anticipated boot disk. Im still downloading Dead or Alive 2 now.. just need to grab Disk Juggler and I will be all set. horray for Dreamcast finally being hacked!

I think you need the DC Gameshark in order to use the Utopia boot disk too. Is this correct?

(I never tried. downloading DOA2 would be crazy for a 56K modem)

Do you know why it needs to use discjuggler to burn it?

Actually, the $50 rebate is good on ANY Dreamcast purchased between (I think) June 1 and August 31-- you don't need to buy it from anywhere special. All you need to do is get your Dreamcast, have a trial month (Free) of Sega.net (their online service) and you get the rebate.

I think the info's on sega.com now.. click on the $50 Rebate box in the upper left.

Definitely worth it now, however there are *rumors* that

a) games may not be released later on,

b) Utopia may not tell anyone HOW to copy it (although it's probably just a matter of time)

c-z) others of course which are probably stupid..

And everyone's saying "what if the game's bigger than the size of a cd?" (note: doa2 is only 260mb) and others are replying that 99min cd-r's are coming out the 27th(???)

In any case, i'm gonna stop here, since this is way off topic.

Can anyone forward me information like ftp sites or any other way I can acquire the boot disk/games? Buying games can get expensive even with coupons...

Nobody's really certain, the group that released these "copied" games isn't releasing any info, in an attempt to dominate the DC Underground market (for now), no doubt. They claim DC games aren't directly copyable, but who knows...only time will tell.

jeepers - information such as this would be difficult to get. Basically, the only way to have access to this type of stuff is if you know someone with "connections". It isn't readily available(nor should it be). I just hope I'd get lucky and get pointed in the right direction...

If the rebate is good with ANY Dreamcast purchased, it's possible then to get a Dreamcast from buy.com for $129 + shipping. Just use $20 off buy.com coupon in the June 16th deal page which is good till the 30th with the $50 rebate from sega.net. Again, this all assuming the rebate is good with any dreamcast purchased. I think it is since Amazon.com shows there is a $50 rebate on the dreamcast.

Actually, the games have to be illegally "cracked." Supposedly there also are rumors that yes, an external device was used, but Utopia is pretty tight-lipped at the moment.

When you copy a game...do you need a cue sheet (like playstation) or do you throw every file onto a cdr and it magically plays?
