Internet auction bride discovers bids are a hoax

Internet auction bride Kay Hammond is still searching for a groom after two bids of £250,000 for her hand in marriage turned out to be hoaxes.

Users calling themselves 'Ben Webb' and 'andrew1901' met the reserve price, but the Birmingham businesswoman has been unable to contact them.

Miss Hammond is refusing to say whether the hoax has affected publicity deals signed at the start of the auction with the Mail on Sunday and Channel 4.

She denies the auction was a publicity stunt for her internet company.

In a statement issued through her publicists, News Team, the 24-year-old said: "I was very disappointed when I found out that the bids were not genuine - I would have been happy to marry anyone who came up with the cash.

"I am still looking for that special someone. But I am very busy at work at the moment. Now I am not sure I would have had time for a husband anyway."

Two previous auctions had to be abandoned after bogus bids reached £1 billion.

The final auction on QXL attracted more than 38,000 hits but only two bids. Miss Hammond issued a warning that hoax bidders could face prosecution.

When Ananova asked to speak to Miss Hammond in person, her press team said she was only willing to do interviews for a "substantial amount of money".

i said it in one of the previous treads on this topic, and i'll say it again, i think she's decently good looking.
granted, you're not going to see her on the cover of playboy anytime soon. but i'll bet there's not one person here who's with a "covergirl".
i think she's a nut for trying to auction herself off, but i don't think i need to try to invent problems with her looks to bolster my point.

correct... "current" being he oportune word. Did you know that the exchange rates for currency are updated more than just daily. That's a scary thought, especially if u dabble in those crazy "get rick quick" schemes that have you invest your money in foreign currency and your cnotact decides to screw you over by saying he traded currency at this price at this time when he actually did it at a higher exchange and pockets the profit--under the table.
