Scanner trouble

I recently installed Windows XP on my computer, and when I try to install my scanner it says it is unable to find the equipment. I have unistalled, reinstalled, updated and all and still nothing. I own a HP Scanjet 5300c. Please help if you can.:bandit:

Try downloading a newer version from HP (http://www.hp.com/)

the driver it says you need (http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/swindex.pl?p=hpscanjet519276&l=en&c=MicrosoftWindowsXP)

Yeah, the software is Xp comp. but the driver I downloaded from Hp's site isn't working. i constantly get fatal error and it erases the unzipped files :shrug:
