I am putting together a computer from parts I had laying around. When I installed the motherboard. the wires from the power supply rubbed against a capacitor and one leg was broken.
Well, a guy at work repaired it and it appears to be OK.
I am testing it with an old 420 MB hard drive that has a lot of stuff loaded onto it.(I really don't care about the stuff thats on the hard drive)
The motherboard is a Pentium type with a questionable Celeron 333.
I am getting nothing on the screen, not even the BIOS.The hard drive is spinning and seems to be OK. I tried another AGP video card. Any clues?

Most likely the mobo is still bad if nothing happens. Try booting without the cpu and mem, if the mobo doesn't beep then its most likely the motherboard then.

it sounds like half of the components in the computer are "questionable" so it's most likely one of them.

try testing as many of the other components as you can on other machines to narrow it down.
