Just thought I'd share. Went down to guitar center and played a Gibson LP Custom on a Fender Cyber Twin amp. It was sooo nice. Who wants to buy the setup for me? It's only $4k!

the amp is awesome. it can be tuned to replicate any amp imaginable. here's a quote from the guitar center website:
Every amp you've ever wanted. Fender® has taken a huge leap beyond any amplifier or effects set-up that has ever been produced. This isn't hype. It's hard fact. The first thing to remember is that the Cyber Twin is NOT a modeling amp. Modeling amps essentially create digital patches that sound like particular setups on famous amp models. You can tweak the control knobs, but they don't do what they would have done on the original amp being emulated, because, again, you're really just dealing with an effects patch. The Cyber-Twin™ transcends that whole idea by rerouting the signal path for each amp simulation so the internal analog components are reconfigured in combination with DSP. The result is astounding accuracy in replicating classic tube amps that respond to knob tweaks just like the originals. And you have the same controls you would have had on the original amp. So when you dial in a '64 Vibrolux, you have effectively turned the Cyber Twin into a '64 Vibrolux. When you crank a knob it responds precisely as the Vibrolux would have because all the components are in the same order. But that's not all. You also have a whole arsenal of killer onboard digital effects to let you create your own unique sounds on pretty much any amp you can think of – 35 of the classics you've already come to love, plus 85 new ones handcrafted by Fender for your amazement. And if that isn't enough, you get 85 rewritable presets to let you design your own amp for a truly infinite palette of fantastic tones. We could write a whole book on this thing and still only scratch the surface.
It was soo cool. I don't think you'd ever need an effects pedal with that amp. Oh and BTW, I know that guitar in the pic is an epiphone, but I couldn't find a pic of the Gibson LP Custom on the net, so I just used that one.

ah i remember reading about that amp a while ago just didnt recognize it, and remember children squire sucks
every amp imaginable? i doubt it. if you want to sound like a sears silvertone, you're gonna have to buy one. if you want to sound like a fender tweed, you're gonna have to buy one. if you want to sound like a gallien krueger bass amp, you gotta buy one.
btw, if they are trying to sell you one, they'll tell you just about anything. :P

hehehe, my current guitar is a squier, and yes it does suck. is it the pickups? cuz you could put some hotter pickups in there and maybe get a decent sound. if the wood is crap, then you won't be able to do much there, tho.

Yeah it is, they buzz like crazy, but I'd rather get a new guitar than put any money into this one. I really want a Les Paul, so i'm thinking about getting an epiphone cuz they're cheaper. What do you think mojo?
i like some of the higher end epiphones. i have my eye on an es335. you figure, if it's solid, has the same constuction (maybe mahogany body, maple top, etc), has good action, you might be able to get a decent deal on one and maybe switch out the pickups later if you need to. some peeps think epiphones suck, but they forget that epiphone was a guitar company before gibson bought them. there are some decent ones out there.
remember that with the pickups, the output is key for gain. a really good hot pickup could be the difference between sounding good or cheap...but could also cost you a lot more as stock if that's the tradeoff. in other words, for all you and i know, the one that says gibson on the headstock could be the exact same guitar as the epiphone, aside from the pickups, and yet cost $500 more. whereas the pickups that you could put in there could be just another $100...plus install could save you a couple hundred still. unless you're chosenfool, in which case you'd bust out the soldering iron right there in the store and go to town :P

ya idunno bout that amp. but LP customs rock. i want a 70's custom.
you could get a used LP from ebay for about $1200. Those are the really good ones. I have heard horror stories about the brand new ones where they didn't cure the wood properly. I personally would rather get an american made les paul. They are a little more, but i think they will hold their value much better than an epi.
get tubes for a descent amp. i don't think there has been a real decent guitar amp made after 1980. IMHO
I have a 70's ampeg 100 watts of deafening power. and a 70's silvertone (1484) much more bluesy a lil more character. reminiscent of a small tube fender amp. I have heard those digital amps are good for recording purposes. but if you wanna crank it and play loud - got|tubes?
:D
so when are we jammin......

so when are we jammin...... Yeah I agree tubes are cool. My current amp is a Dean Markley K50. It's 90 watts and has amazing tone, when used with a nice guitar. It was given to me by my dad's friend, who doesnt use it anymore. The dude I got the amp from made the guitars and amps for the last oasis tour :heh:. I'd say that for a home amp, I'd love to have that cyber twin because of all the different settings, but for performance, it's gotta be a Marshall. Those things are amazing.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. i looked at that and now i have to change. those gibson lps feel so much nicer than the epiphone counterparts. the eps aren't bad if you get a good one, kinda like squiers. that's all i have to say about that. i have a fender roc pro 1000 if anyone wants it. i have a peavey t-60 too. i'm sure you all care.
