ive got news for you wayne, the only newspapers that have been railing you are canadian, you made the CRAP team of "all-stars", and YOU have a large hold in an AMERICAN hockey team. Perhaps instead of whining you pull the crappy defence men off your team( pronger, macinnis) and get a REAL goalie - Patrick Roy.

Here we go with another topic where everyone making is a bigger deal out of it than it really is.
"The whole world wants to see us lose."
Well, of course, they are all rooting for their own country.
"They all want to see Canada lose"
Yeah, you're like the Yankees. Everyone gets up for their games against the best. When you're Canada's hockey team you've got to expect everyone to be gunning for you. The king of the mountain is the prime target. At least they have traditionally been strong.
In the end what he said was just frustration. And believe it or not Wayne's human and capeable of sticking his foot in his mouth on occasion just like the rest of us. I say we just ignore this one.

to bad you dont know crap about hockey... the canadians havnt won the olympics for 50 years..

hmmm... outside of southpark, i don't think anyone gives much of a hoot about canada at all, let alone putting froth the effort required to HATE them...

yeah... what a whiny prick. I used to have respect for the man. Hockey is no pussy sport... people get knocked on their asses and thats half of hockey. It may have been a cheap shot but i think tito flurry is gonna get over it... hes like the craziest guy in the nhl.
That brings me to another thing. What i dont get is why all these hockey players from the us/canada nhl teams go back to their own countries to play for the olympics. Sure, sure theyre from these countries but they live in america now. The point of going to the olympics is to represent YOUR country. So if theyre not from the us/canada... why are they here? U.S. would have the best damn hockey team in the world if they could get their own players to play for them. This is why we havent beaten the russians in 22 friggen years. All these players go to these other, terrible teams, where theyre the only ones with ANY hockey experience and they lose... its a lost cause.
Id like to see the big names in American hockey stay here in America.

it was a cheap shot, but watching it live i saw flurry hit hasek, you dont just hit a goalie and expect nothing back. on a further note Pronger is a pussy, edit: he sucks nuff said

So I guess we're judging a nation's appitude for a sport by their results in one tournament? Not too bright, especially when you consider that for about 45 of those 50 years their best player (professionals at the NHL and farm system levels) were not allowed to compete.

Well, that's a bit selfish, and very "American". But think of it this way. If we moved you to Sweden to work temporarily, would you want to play your favorite sport for that country?

people compete in the olympics based on their citizenship and their bloodlines, not their residency. i haven't seen any stats on it, but based on what they've said on TV, there are a LOT of medalists from other countries who live and train in the US.
i think it's just a nice commentary on our country that people from all over the world want to come here and live and follow their dreams.
