just some random thoughts:

Random Thought 1: So current DVDs are only capable of displaying the usual 500-something lines of vertical resolution right? So even if you have a HDTV and a progressive scan DVD player, you're still gonna see DVD's movies in quality far lower than HD broadcast. Dosn't that suck? However, don't Digital Satellite Broadcast (ie. Direct TV) companies show HBO in HD? So at this point in time, the best way to watch movies is with a an HDTV and a satellite dish (HBO). Am I right? correct me if I'm wrong.

Random Thought 2: Now with the new "Blue Laser" DVD standard coming our way(available as early as next year), discs will be able to contain over two hours of HD data. So then I'll have to replace my whole DVD collection to the new High-Definition Special Editions of all my movies????

I think so. Maybe not for several years, but Hollywood will want to rake in even more money from us. I think they will eventually release true HDTV DVDs and make us buy the movies all over again. *sigh*
