I saw this in a pop up ad and was curious:

Anyone use such software and how is the quality of the copy?

This is a waste of money. All they're doing is selling you software that you can get on the net for free. What you'd be doing is creating VCD (Video CD) or SVCD (Super Video CD) discs. Most DVD players can play these discs. A CD will hold 74 or 80 minutes using the normal VCD standard. You can always tweak the settings and store more if you need to. If it's done correctly, the quality is as good as or better than a videotape.

You could also create a DivX disc, but this would only play on a computer.
