I can make this a long story: I will give the story next post:
Here is the deal

I have an All in Wonder Rage Pro (PCI1) TV Tuner w/ Cable
I have an S3 / Diamond S540 III (AGP1)
I run XP with all the latest drivers

6.13.3279.0 9/26/2001 ATI
5.12.1.8011 8/10/2000 S3

The problem is simple really. I can watch TV if the ATI card is the only enabled card. If I boot with both enabled if I try to activate the Multimedia center or any other TV Tuner program my system hangs.

I really need 2 screens, and would really like to have TV on in the background. I have tried to make sure the ATI Media Center loads only on the ATI Card and it still locks. What I have ended up doing is booting disabling the S3, rebooting, running TV, enabling rebooting, then no TV... :(

I highly doubt this configuration has ever been attempted
If anyone wonders I have 384MB PC100, Celeron 500, M003 with Integrated SB Live.
There is a Hollywood Plus (That I am sure does not interfere) It is overlay on the ATI.

I am running 2 Dell 17" Trins one has Remote Desktop going all the time, and the other is the home desktop. I use Remote Desktop to do all my processing on a much better system (Tbird 1400 at a remote location). Id appreciate any assistance. The real funny thing is I have had the TV tuner for a year, and just now did it install (No not a driver thing) I flashed the M003 (Yes Creative) 440BX Bios and all of a sudden XP detected the Tuner portion.

I am going to ask a question I already know the answer to, just so others arent confused and dont have to ask..... why do you have your best machine at a remote location?

I would say eliminate variables, such as remove the hollywood card. Does this also happen when initiating a particular video codec?

try disabling multiple monitors, to see if the multi monitor is causing the problem.

Also, are the drivers you are using WHQL certified? I know that ati usually offers two drivers, the uncertified one with usually more features, and the stable WHQL version.

The drivers for these cards are not numerous, to use the TV there is the only driver I have for XP... ATI isnt going to do much for an old card, and S3 Sucks. But htose are all I have to work with.

The computer is at a WorkStation Studio area.

I took out the Hollywood, still no luck. And yes it is the dual display that causes the error. It only locks when I have both display adapter initiated. If I load only the ATI TV works fine.

Here is the error:
Faulting application atimmc.exe, version 7.1.0.14, faulting module quartz.dll, version 6.4.2600.0, fault address 0x0002146e.

The application, C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\main\ATIMMC.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 02/21/2002 @ 00:13:24.622 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 77E778CE (kernel32!InterlockedDecrement)

Not sure what to say, maybe invest in a new card? Or if you dont want to do that maybe downgrade to win2000 but I doubt you will want to do that.

I found some Savage 4 Drivers, the errors are the same, but I dont Hang ( I am able to recover )

If I disable the desktop on the neighboring screen I can view tv. When I renable it I lose the picture but keep audio. If I try to load while both are on the program crashes. Still seems related to the overlay on the Diamond Card. However I am not even displaying any of that on that card. All this will be solved when My GF4Ti from BeastBuy arrives. Oh Wait the TI, has no tv! HA!

Just apply the $30 GC and get the MX vers.

Jeffbx CHoosen Gak, anyone I'd really appreciate comments. Why does the Savage effect the overlay capabilities on an entirely different display.

I was hoping to do a similar setup with my agp ati radeon aiw and a pci video card. I never thought about any hardware conflicts. It sounds like the tv software wants to send the picture to both video cards but doesnt know where to send it. have you tried ati support? its a long shot, but maybe they can help.

ATI support sucks... and S3 is non existant.
I got a (We dont know how to help you answer)

Regarding the All In Wonder Pro card:

As stated on our website, There is no TV Tuner/Capture support for this card in Windows XP. This card is limited to display drivers only: LOL

that really sucks, i wanted to get a pci tv card for a new box and a new geforce for some smooth gaming as my radeon aiw isnt the best at gaming, though its not bad. looks like i wont be pursuing that option yet. maybe ill go for the new fastest radeon all in wonder
