View Full Version : Bush smarter than Clinton...

...well, either one of them being smart is a matter of opinion...but here's Rush Limbaugh with his commentary...

Remember when Bill Clinton went to the North Korea-South Korea Demilitarized Zone? As you can see above, he was looking into binoculars through the lens caps. What is amazing is that he knew obviously that the lens caps were on, but he had to fake it, because to be seen taking the lens cap off after having had the binoculars to his eyes would have not been a good photo-op, and Clinton lives and dies by the photo-op. So the guy just continued to stand there and look through those binocs with the lens caps on!
Well, on Tuesday night, almost ten years after the Clinton trip, President George W. Bush visited the DMZ - and he got it right. Bush looked through the binoculars with the lens caps off. We posted both pictures on the RushLimbaugh.com homepage prior to the show's kickoff, and if you visited us (as you should throughout the day to see if we've added any important tidbits), you saw this A-B, side-by-side comparison.
As you look at this striking comparison, keep in mind that we're told that one of these two people is a brilliant Rhodes Scholar - even though he never completed the course of studies. Keep in mind that we're told that one guy is smarter than the rest of the room, and that we were fortunate just to have had somebody with this intellect leading us. Yet that's the guy with the lens caps on his binoculars!
The other guy? He's said to be a frat boy idiot who doesn't even know where he is when he's at the DMZ. But he has the lens caps off. It's enough to make you question the media templates of Bush as a dope and Clinton as a genius - at least, we hope it is.

I hope that in no way does this cause some political debate...I just thought the comparison was funny!

Amusing... but I'm not sure either of them are too bright.
If you look in Mr. Bush's picture, you can see the hand pointing.
And if you listen closely, you can almost hear: "No, Mr. President, North Korea is to the North. You'll need to look THAT way."
Clinton, while he obviously didn't see a thing, was at least pointed in the right direction. :P

i thought the same thing nano. but i'm not enough of an expert on binoculars, so i didn't want to say anything and stick my foot in my mouth.
can't you just hear bush "hmmm.....all the people over there look so short and small. must be because they are asians. asians are short and small. i once saw this movie with asian women in it....oh wait, anyway....." :heh:
[i don't know how many of you have used binoculars -- my parents are into bird-watching, so as a kid i got dragged along on hikes with a pair of binoculars for everyone -- but when you look through the wrong end, you basically have the "reverse" effect, and everything looks tiny and far away]

The funny thing is, Rush is dumber than both of them.

I'm sure Clinton immediatly took off thelens caps 2 seconds later. Bush prolly pulled the binoculars down and had black rings around his eyes from the show polish of some Korean practical joker.

Well, if you assume that they are using the same observation point, Bush is pointed closer to the direction that the hand is pointing than Clinton was! :D
I don't think that Bush has the binocs backwards. They look like the newer hi-tech (maybe even image-stabilizing) kind.

Nope. Saw the video of it. Clinton stood there and looked in the binocs like a dufus for a long time. As Rush said, of course he realized they were on, but didn't want to call attention to it by taking them off.
And even though I like Bush, I just about busted a gut laughing at how funny he would have looked with the black rings around his eyes! :bigmouth:

If you look closely, Bush's binoculars look a lot like an old ViewMaster I had when I was a kid...
Maybe the soldier is just pointing out the lever that will allow him to look at the different pictures... :P
"Press this lever here, Mr. President, and you'll be able to see The RoadRunner escaping across the DMZ..."
damn, jase...you had the good viewmaster. i had the cheap red one.

Not so sure about that. If someone was looking at binoculars with the lens cap on, I doubt he's be able to see me pointing anyways. :P

Could I point out that both of those "world leaders" are stupid nough to stand in sight of snipers who support a hostile power.
This would make me smarter than both of them. And most of the rest of you here on G|A. I do not place myself in a direct line of fire of people who want me dead.
This is why I should be ruler of the world... :heh:

Nah, he's self-conscious enough, I'm sure he would have looked to see which way everyone else was pointing before trying to look himself.
He probably had the lens covers on on purpose. Maybe he had pictures of his "layover" in Bangkok taped to the insides. That would explain why he looked for so long... :D

Wrong, grimm. The photographers who are crowded around in front of the politicians, trying to get a better picture than the other guys, are the ones who are risking getting shot in the back of the head. :heh:

Maybe those hostile powers preferred to have these two jokers in power, and realized that whoever would have replaced them could not POSSIBLY have been as big a buffoon as the one they would have sniped. :P

i agree with you. i know it's easy to make fun of all of the "stupid" people who we see on tv (whether it's bush, clinton, rush, etc etc etc) but when it comes down to it, practically all those people are pretty brilliant. basically, they use their intelligence to develop an "act" that they carry out in public. the more successful the act, the more famous they become. rush limbaugh has become famous by being loud, assinine, and reactionary. clinton became powerful with his "i'm hip, i'm smooth, but i feel your pain" show. george w. has risen to power with a "i'm a normal guy, and wanna be your big buddy" act (along with some fortunate family placement).
really, most people who are powerful and famous got there because they had intelligence to launch themselves there, no matter how moronic they appear to the thinking public.

You got that right. I don't care who your daddy is, or if you're a "Bubba" from Arkansas, you don't become president by accident.
