I'm looking at adding RAID to my computer. Should I get a RAID PCI controller card or get a whole new motherboard with RAID on it. What is the advantage/disadvantage of getting a RAID PCI controller card.

I know there are forum members using PCI raid cards without any problems, so I don't think there's really and advantage of one over the other. Except that if you only get a raid card, you don't get a nifty new motherboard to play with. ;)

Well, if you want to save money and are not interested in buying a new motherboard, I'd say just go with the card. There seems to be some contention over whether or not a card gives you better performance than on-board, but either way, I think that a card would do more for you.
Look at it this way, eventually--maybe far in the future, you will probably be getting a new motherboard anyway. If you do, you can get one with RAID, but hey, a second RAID card can't hurt, right? ;)
