it just makes me so mad that these bastards would use the pathetic excuse of religion to take a man who has a family and kill him. that is just not right. that's a hell of a religion

In some ways, I am reluctant to post this, because I am afraid that some may take it as an inflamatory comment. But I in no way mean it as such. Well, here goes:
It has been reported that Attorney General John Ashcroft said, "Islam is a religion in which God requires you to send your son to die for him. Christianity is a faith in which God sends his son to die for you."
I'm not trying to divert the topic of this thread, nor am I saying that the above quotation is a true reflection of the teachings of Islam, but the above quotation does shed light on the profound differences that there can be between religions.

Regardless of if the man has a family or not, its a pathetic excuse. But if you continue to think about it, virtually every country has done it at one time or another.

bingo
I am reminded of something I read a year or so ago. Back in the day of the Roman Empire, a travelling Roman citizen need only say "Civis Romas" (I am a citizen of Rome) and they were treated with respect. Whether that respect was genuine or out of fear is debatable, but still...
Part of me wants "Civis Americus" to have as much weight. Another part of me recognizes that THAT is part of the problem.
I am torn...

IMHO
All people should be treated with respect, but not because they're American or Romans or what have you, Because they are Human. I wouldn't WANT to be respected because of were i live, was born, look like etc... I want respect for what i do or have accomplished.

Yeah, nice to know we can at least trust a terrorist in this day and age to do what he promises to do.
Boy, what the heck are you talkin' about?

For those of you that didn't know, Daniel Pearl is a Wall Street Journal reporter that was kidnapped on Jan. 23, 2002 in Pakistan by Islamic militants while trying to get an interview for a story about Islamic radical groups. His wife is pregnant with their first child and his mother is a Computer Science professor at UCLA.
According to this:

The FBI has his murder on video tape now. :(

But thanks for the background anyway... although it has been on the news constantly since word broke that he had been murdered. I was tempted to post that, but thought it would be a bad thing to do in this type of thread. Oh well, now if someone wants to get mad, they can get mad at you DF.

Just days after the kidnapping, they arrested three people arrested for sending the e-mails announcing Pearl's abduction
