I bought a 50 pack of Imation CD-Rs. 30 of them were completely messed up. The normal silvery film u see at the underside was completely messed up. Double folded or peeled away in the stampling process(or however they do it). What a waste.

Either take them back to where you purchased them or contact the manufacturer. Its no big deal, just a bit of a hassle. CDR's are cheap enough that even if you had an urgent need for them right now, you could buy some more and wait on your refund or new merchandise.

ok I always wanted to ask this.
I've heard of cetain cheap CD-R's suddenly crapping out after a year or so of storing data. Though some seem not to mind buying the cheapest they can find, I personally wouldn't mind paying extra to know that my data is safe. I know most CD-R brands are good enough, but if you had some REALLY REALLY important data that you wanted to store permanently, what ONE brand would you choose??

Taiyo Yudens such as these (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005NOHQ/).
Last month, amazon was selling a 50pk spindle for $15 shipped.
