pretty cool to see a future hall-of-famer in person.. Went shoppin for groceries, and suchforth.. And stopped by Costco in San Jose.. And there he was, talking to a Costco employee.. said something along the lines like "my assistant is on his way".. a few more employees went up to him.. he was standing around the snack aisle, by something with a raiders logo on a product. don't know exactly what it was..

Suckage:
1) He's with the Raiders now instead of the 49ers.
2) I didn't get his autograph
3) Economy has gotten so bad that he has to stand around in Costco to endorse some snacks.

He was probably endorsing his own line of vitamins. Seriously.

i like the niners too so when he went to the raiders it wasnt that big of a loss for me... i was actually happier. I like the players on the raiders more and im glad he now, atleast, has a shot at ending his career with another ring. Only problem is Gruden is gone now... the future is unclear for the raiders.

Well, since you didn't hear it the first time, I'll say it again.. Too bad he ain't with the Niners no more. It would've been great to see him start and end his career with the Niners. You don't see many people who stick with the same team throughout their career. Of course he's just across the bay and all.. I'm not much of a football fan, but I still root for my hometeam.. Jerry Rice has been a part of the Niners as long as I can remember. It just seemed different after he signed with Oakland. But true, I'm glad that he has a chance at another ring.. But whats to say he didn't with the Niners? The Niners still do have potential.

And as for that vitamin.. that's probably what I saw.. Probably started selling at that Costco.. heh.. give a bunch of placebos to some athelete, bring it in to a Costco and tell 'em to sell it.. whats the chances that they'll just take him at his word and sell? bleah.. im babbling now... off i go

yes i think it would have been nice too but i wasnt suprised when he left. I think the only thing he was really holding on to in san fran was steve young. He had a great relationship with him and joe montana as well and so after steve left, there wasnt really much but a bunch of rookies and new guys in san fran. San fran does have some real potential but he was having some problems there... he was really the only one left there since everybody left.

The reason you dont see too many dynasties ne more mostly because of the free agency. Salary caps have that effect as well but nowadays its hard to keep all of your players together. Players are in it for the money these days and its whoever can shell out the most bills is who can get the real good players. Salary caps pretty much limit how many good players there are. For example, it hasnt been years since weve seen a dynasty, or for that matter a team to win more than one superbowl in a row. The cowboys were really the last team that went on a ring spree. Teams such as them, the packers, (until recently) the niners, and the recent rams, etc are all teams that have great quarterbacks and seem to be good for a number of years. But i think its mostly the defenses that defined a dynasty from years ago... such AS the niners/cowboys of the seventies. I think its the quarterbacks that are really the only ones remaining on a certain team for an extended amount of time. Every now and then you see players such as jerry rice who have remained on their teams their whole career but theyve become relics now and the NFL has just melted into a free exchange of players going back and forth between teams and never really staying.

Nevertheless, Jerry Rice is an extraordinary player and a legend in his own time. Hes had a great career and i hope he enjoys his last years in the NFL.

Yeah, I know. It truly sucks about the salary cap and the money thing.. But sometimes you get those players who doesn't care about money as much.. They just wanna be with their same team, or in a certain city.. Cal Ripken was a great example. People who play the game for what it is, a game, and love it. Or Michael Jordan, considering he's already got enough money to let several generations of Jordan's live off of. How he said he'd play for free or the bare minimum.

As for the whole Jerry Rice situation, yeah, I know bout all that. Who knows.. The Niners that he left could be on the brink of starting yet another dynasty. ;)

Maybe its just me but doesn't Jeff Garcia have a rather homosexual lisp to his voice? Doesn't make him a bad quarterback, but he really shouldn't talk to reporters anymore.
