I really liked his music when he was somewhat popular, especially his song "White Wedding". He had a little spot in a movie a couple of years ago, buy I haven't heard what he is doing lately.

I saw him live at the Millenium celebration in Phoenix a couple years ago. He was still pretty good - even had Steve Stevens on the guitar.

Didn't qualify for "main stage", tho. He was on one of the side stages but it was still jam-packed with people watching him.

he was in the doors movie a few yrs back. he played cat.

he also played a role in a recent thread here...in the 80s music trivia one. he sang the song "kiss me deadly" by generation x :P

he released a greatest hits CD last year, had a Behind The Music and Storytellers episode on VH1, and is working on a new album right now, working with Steve Stevens

The greatest hits CD has a nice live version of Rebel Yell, and a cover of Don't you Forget about me, which was originally written for him to sing.

Will anything ever replace the '80's? I saw Billy Idol in concert when he had FLOCK OF SEAGULLS opening for him way back when. Damn Good showman if you ask me. *ahhhh..the old days*...

i really dug generation x. they were kinda the mainstream punk thing back then. like punk...but not too kick-your-best-friend-in-the-teeth punk. they actually had the original "dancing with myself" thing before it was released again under idol. i like the original cut as far as the guitar work n stuff.

What's wrong with getting drunk? I wish I was drunk right now. I wasn't dissing him, I thinkhe is cool as hell, just he prolly drinks a lot.

Blink 182 did a remake of Dancing with myself at least 4 years ago.. it was pretty good... I still liked idol's version better, but, I can't "dance" to Idol's version....

Billy Idol was in The Wedding Singer :)
