I'm a civil engineer. I do site design. We do work and then town boards shoot it down.

My current project is a small subdivision. we almost 10 acres of land and want to split it up into 3 different lots and a road. well, the town planner doesn't like our client, the developer. because of that, we've had to jump through more hoops that i thought existed. they don't want this land to be developed, but its going to end up being developed no matter what they do.

they're coming up with the stupidest things that are "needed". its so f*cking annoying! i've been working on this design for months only to see it going no where due to politics. also, the stupid planning board is made up of people who don't have a clue about engineering. grrrr.

i almost hope it doesn't pass so we can do afforable housing through the state instead of the town and totally screw the town.

Sounds like some of the nonsense that goes on around here.

Of course affordable housing around here is housing in which firefighters, police officers and other working folks can actually afford. :o

yeah, thats that its like here too. hell, i couldn't even afford to live in affordable housing. but you don't have to abide by zoning laws so we could totally screw the town and put in 6 lots instead of 3 and they wouldn't be able to do a damn thing about it.

i have had the opportunity?, priviledge?, burden? of being involved with local politics at various points in my career, and it all sucks. so much of what is accomplished depends on what people "like" each other, etc......it's sorta depressing.
