I am running WinXp, and just recently when i start up it is taking nearly 10 minutes to fully load. It will complete the BIOS check then just pause at the black screen for about 5-6 minutes. Then it goes to the Welcome screen and chills for 2-3 minutes. When it FINALLY begins Windows it will take another 1-2 minutes to start up all the prgrams.(When I say all programs, it's only starting 8 per the StartUp page in mcsonfig.) This has happened to me before with WinME but when I formatted my drive and installed XP it stopped...at least for a while. I don't want to have to re-format to get rid of this problem, can anyone help?

:banghead:

Can anybody :poke: ???

I had a similar problem on my win98se machine. Go to downloads.com or your favorite shareware site and find a program that analyzes the boot log (i'm only assuming that winxp has a boot log, of course.) It is stored on your c: drive, if so. Boot Log Analyzer (an old program from 1998) is what i used and it worked great. It showed that "Starting TCP/IP (NETWORK\MSTCP\0001) and (NETWORK\MSTCP\0004) were taking each over 1 1/2 mins to load.

I had recently installed a DSL modem. I figured out that I had to set up a "fake" TCP/IP address for my nic cards, and it has been fine since. Whatever is taking so long will show in the BLA list and then you can figure out how to correct that problem from there.
