Frys is selling the Nomad II FM/MP3 Player for $59.99. They're refurbished. They include a 32MB Memory Card, 0MB Nomad II, cable, but no headphones.

neat to but old technology not worth it...

Old technology? Are you talking about hard drive based MP3 players? The only decent hard drive MP3 player is the I-Pod and it's like $400. The others are just too big an clunky. The Nomad II's are nice and small. Still one of the best MP3 players out there.

I got my Nomad II from emusic way back when. I think it's great and I'm still using it.

I popped in a 128MB SmartMedia card and I'm good for 2 hours. Plus, it also has a built in voice recorder. Small, light, long battery life. Considering these things used to go for $250 this sounds like a great deal.

I got one of these new from Fry's 9 months ago and I could never get it to work right - it wouldn't turn on all the time and it would spontaneously reset. I have other devices that use the smartmedia card so that was nice, but I ended up taking the Nomad II back anyway because of the stability problems.

If they're selling refurbs, one of them is probably my old one... :disa:

I hate mp3 players, been burnt one too many times. Mp3/cd is the best bet I think. If only they made cd players with Lithium ion batteries...

I totally agree with you on that - I don't think I'll get another MP3 player any time soon... MP3/CD seems the best.
