can you raid 2 hds from different makes and different size??

Yes, but the size & speed will default to the lowest of each drive -

I.e., you have a 30 & a 40GB drive - it'll run as fast as the slowest of the 2 drives, and you'll only be able to use 30GB on each drive.

only 30?? hmmm thanks ill make sure not to get 20GB then
