S: Frys sold me 1/2 the RAM

Add said: 256 pc133 or pc 100 RAM for $39.99.
On a whim I buy, bring it home, install and bam :eek: only 128 shows.
I try different slots etc but no luck. The RAM has NEC chips and says 256 pc 133 on it.
I was warned but i have never had problems there before.
My friend told me sometimes if customers bring stuff back like RAM they just reshelf it and hope the next person wont bring it back.
Now i gotta go get into that line this weekend and since i'll be out there i'll probably buy something i don't need blah blah blah blah (feel free to tune out now) blah etc etc.:angry: :bawl:

Another thing to watch out for is Walmart. I for one know a bunch of people who go to wal-mart buy a modem, take out their broken modem, put in the new modem and return the broken one in the box. They also do this for other products. I am not saying I agree or disagree with the practice but I think it happens alot of places with computer "stuff".

did you try installing it by itself, meaning no other ram in there working alongside it? sometimes the order they are installed can change the amont that is recognized by the system.

I had the exact same problem with memory from Fry's about a year ago. It does suck but at least you can return it with pretty much no questions asked.

Go early. And as me and my friends like to say regarding Fry's - "Get in get out and nobody gets hurt"
