Hi,
Just got my new system up and running but I get very odd readings when checking my temperatures and voltages.
All numbers both in PC Health (in BIOS) and in Hardware Doctor are randomly jumping around all over the place. For instance, CPU temperature shows 30C one second to change to 43C the second thereafter to change to 35C, 41C, 28C etc etc.
Same thing is happening with Vcore voltage that randomly jumps between 1.38 and 1.55, and with all the other variables as well.
My system seem to be running stable (so far) but I really would like to get readings so I can better monitor stuff for future overclocking.

System spec:
P4 1.8A on Abit TH7II-RAID, BIOS 38
512Mb Samsung RDRAM
420W Power Supply (generic but spanking new)

Anyone got any ideas to why I might have those problems?

Thanks!!

I havn't tried MBM yet. Will do that right away even though MBM probably will get the same readings... but certainly worth a try!

I just tried with anpther power supply (500W) and I got the same jumpy numbers, so that wasn't the problem (unfortunately).
Don't know if I should flash the BIOS... I have the latest ersio installed, but maybe it will help re-installing it.
Other than that I have completely run out of ideas other than returning the motherboard... which I rather not do since it will take forever to get a new one.

It really sounds like a motherboard problem. If the bios can't correctly report things like temperature and voltage, there's a serious problem, and you should return it. Yes, you'll be without a motherboard for a few days, but if you keep it, it will die eventually, and you risk losing a lot of other hardware if you get a voltage spike down one of the busses.

Talked to Abit support twice and they thought that nothing was wrong with their board since there "are so many variables that can got wrong in a computer"...
They suggested using an UPS to control the power feed to the powersupply... so I went to Best Buy and picked the most expensive one up, which of course didn't solve the problem...
Already ordered another board and this one is going back asap... as does the $200 UPS ;-)
