I dont know if it should be here or not...but if it isn't supposed to be here, please move it to the appropriate place mods. I bought some UrbanQ stuff last year...sent in rebate forms, etc...On the web site the checks said it was sent, but never been received. Emails going back and forth for almost a year now and still nothing! Always, "I will look into it". And its always by the same person. At one point it was a different person. I feel I am getting totally ripped off and getting the run around. Is there someone I can report this to? Links are appreciated. I will file UrbanQ away as their business practice suck! I have kept all email correspondence with them.

You could file a complaint with the BBB or use other services like
www.webassured.com I've used them with good results.
There are other sites out there that will do it as well. Good luck with that.

calng, I have found that filing a fraud complaint with the post office works wonders in problem situations.

Start here:

USPS Mail Fraud Page (http://www.usps.gov/postalinspectors/fraud/welcome.htm)

Thanks for the inputs so far, but I dont think this classifies as fraud since I did get the merchandise...but just didn't get my promised rebate checks. The emails basically say the same thing for the past year except they changed the customer service rep name once.

that's fraud, you didn't get what you were promised. The rebate payment is what they promised. you didn't it. You have full rights as a consumer to complain. Did at anytime they say that they would trace the check # or when it was issued? They should at least do that for you.

How do you figure it wasn't fraud, calng?

The offer was clear: you send them money, and they send you merchandise and money (rebate check). You kept your part of the bargain, you sent money. They kept PART of their bargain, they sent merchandise but not money. You didn't get all of what you ordered, and they won't make it right even after multiple requests. How does this differ from fraud?

They were supposed to send the rebate check by mail... according to the USPO page I sent you, if any part of a transaction was to take place by mail, they accept jurisdiction... even if the deal was initiated by phone or internet.

When you file your complaint, the USPO puts a cover letter on it and demands that the compamy respond in writing as to what is going on.
Just the fact that they receive this official looking complaint that they MUST respond to will usually kick them into action.

Thanks for the inputs. I always thought mail fraud was only merchandise based. And since I did receive merchandise, I didn't think it would be classified as fraud. Thanks for the heads up! So far, I have filed a complaint to webassured, and USPS.

And at first, they said they would trace and send me another check...well, after that no emails. Then I get this email every time I email them. It is always the same email and signed by same rep, which is pretty weird. Anyway, UrbanQ never contacted me, I always have to contact them every 4 weeks. I have had enough patience, and it is now time for action.

these jerk offs still owe me about $150; $40 from a rebate that was due in Sept. of 2001 and the rest from rebates that were due in dec 2001.

I have filed a complaint with the post office and have continued to threaten them with law suits, etc. until I get my money.

Their phone number is 1(516)239-1860.
Their e-mail is [email protected]
Their mailing address is: Urbanq.com
CS 9000
Lawrence, NY 11559
Use www.zairmail.com to send them FREE love letters every week like me!
