Man convicted of shooting girlfriend's car after she didn't make his toast
By Associated Press, 3/13/2002 22:40
MONROEVILLE, Ala. (AP) A man has been convicted of shooting into his girlfriend's car because she didn't fix him toast for breakfast.

Brian Heath Harrison, 23, of Excel, was found guilty Tuesday of firing into an occupied vehicle. He faces a prison sentenced of up to 20 years.

Gena Mixon, 19, told authorities Harrison became violent when she didn't toast his bread on Jan. 8, 2001.

She testified he dragged her by her hair, choked her, held a rifle to her head and put the barrel in her mouth. After Mixon packed her things and tried to leave, she said Harrison shot her car twice.

Defense attorney Laura Grant called the shooting an accident and said her client would appeal.

Harrison was convicted of shooting into an occupied dwelling eight years ago, court records show. Investigators said he fired a shot into a mobile home, missing a toddler's head by inches.

Harrison was released from prison weeks before the 2001 shooting.

Convicted of what? This sounds more like attempted murder than anything else.

i guess firing into an occupied vehicle....(does this mean that firing into an unoccupied vehicle is not a crime?)

headlines like this catch your attention becuase they're silly... the truth is closer to "man shoots girlfriend's car because he is an abusive ass with a long history of problems and doesn't need much of an excuse to intimidate and hurt someone weaker than him."

but that's kinda long i guess...

anyway, i've seen a lot of headlines in this style lately, and they're starting to annoy me.
